Ashtanga 101
with Taylor Hunt

Mondays 6:00 PM
This 7- week course will offer an introduction of postures (asanas) of the
Ashtanga Primary Series, up to Navasana. Each week will progress from the
previous lesson, providing students with the opportunity to build on what
they have learned through repetition. Detailed instruction will be offered
on proper alignment in postures, breath, bandha use, and focus (drishti).
The course will also offer a brief history of Ashtanga Yoga, including how
the “Eight Limbs” are incorporated in practice, with information on its
lineage.
Ashtanga 101 is appropriate for students who prefer strong movements
in their yoga practice. Current students wanting to deepen their
understanding of the practice, or beginning students with no prior
knowledge of Ashtanga Yoga are encouraged to attend. On completion of
the course, students will be ready to proceed to the Ashtanga Level I and/
or Mysore classes.

Balanced Yoga members $49.00 (auto-debit or annual pass holders only)

Ashtanga 102

Mondays 6:00 PM
Students proficient in Level 1, or who have completed Ashtanga 101, will have an opportunity to learn the twelve asanas (postures) that follow Navasana (Boat pose) and complete the full Ashtanga Primary Series.
Poses will be taught (and shown) as well as modifications for each, so that all students will have accessible postures for their capability, but also know what they are working toward.
This course will be held 3 consecutive Monday evenings, each class building on what was taught the prior week. By the third and final week, students will have postures suitable for them to be able to attend full Primary Series classes, thus enabling them to deepen and further their practice.
Ashtanga 102 is appropriate for students who prefer strong movements
in their yoga practice. Current students wanting to deepen their
understanding of the practice are encouraged to attend.

Prepare yourself to do handstands with safety and confidence. If you are new to handstand, learn how to evaluate your readiness for the pose and how to strengthen and prepare your body for it. If you have rudimentary experience with handstand against the wall, learn to refine the actions of the pose and improve your alignment. As we explore the path to handstand, our intention is to enjoy and celebrate each step in the journey.
